Education is at the basis of generating more environmental sensibility, going out on the field with children and adults to the rivers and let them learn, play and enjoy it, is at the heart of this theme. The partnership works in different countries, in different social situations and with different methods on this issue.
The partnership focuses on two areas of work:
• Sharing best practice on environmental education
• Developing educational training programs and materials.
The output of the project is a full Tool Box of professional training and educational materials for different target groups and relevant organizations on river management and awareness raising, and it will consist of:
• Educational materials
Educational materials which have proven successful will be gathered and other new materials which are needed will be developed. There will be a focus on different age groups (children and adults) and on different themes like water quality and ecology. These educational materials will be developed to support trainers in their work with local people and children.
• Training the Trainers Program on river issues. One of the key developments will be a “Training the Trainers Program” that will be jointly developed. The focus of the “training programs” will be to improve the level of the trainers/educators that are working with the regional and local administrations and NGO's. This training will focus on:
• Educational methods
• Methods for involvement of people
• Working with volunteers
• Training on the job.
